Customer Review: The problem with this work is that in order for it to be reasonable, one must accept Mr. Friedman's premise: that the earth is getting hotter, flatter, and more crowded. While it is not a stretch to believe these things, he presents them as an emergency. Without the emergency he initially creates... more info
Customer Review: Typical anti-Roosevelt polemic. For people who still think that Herbert Hoover was a victim of circumstance and that 1920's Republicanism had nothing to do with the Wall Street crash of 1929. In short, historical revisionism at its worst.
Customer Review: I've always been a "dabbler" in photography but 6 months ago I decided to take it a bit more seriously and treat myself to a Digital SLR. This will be my second photography book, the first being the "Nikon D40 Field Guide". I really liked this book..........I guess you want to know why?more info
Customer Review: David Allen's Getting Things Done system is actually quite useful, but you certainly don't need to read this book to implement it. In fact, reading the book might turn you away from the methodology as it did me. There are definite, glaring problems with Allen's style. For example, he relies... more info
Customer Review: This is a slim book (<200 pages with big font and wide line spacing) that covers a lot of material. While I like Paul Krugman's clear, informal writing style and use of analogies to past crises, I didn't find these episodes to be explored as deeply as I would have liked. This book seems more suited... more info
Customer Review: I would give the author herself 5 stars for her journey and her perseverance and being able to overcome severe deficits. For the book, however, 3 stars is generous, in my opinion. As the daughter of a recent stroke survivor, I found very useful information about how to deal with my mother and... more info
Customer Review: As noted by others, this book is merely edited by Michael Lewis. It is a collection of articles by others. Clearly the author means to take advantage of his name recognition and trade on the economic uncertainty present today with the use of the title PANIC. Don't bother to read this.
Customer Review: One of the best books I've read. Easy to relate to whether you're a marketing professional, or just the average consumer. The patterns are true and the book does a great job illustrating the research and coming up with lots of great real world examples. I pulled off the expectations stunt with... more info
Customer Review: There are few commentators, "speaking heads," who I respect more than Fareed Zakaria. Most have little of value to add to the so called "news" of the day and ask what seems to me to be pretty inane questions much of the time. Zakaria digs in; and this book is no exception to his professional pursuit... more info
